Domain note

STANISLAS LESZCZYNSKI

The exiled King of Poland, father-in-law of King Louis XV, was invited to stay with his modest court in the royal house of Chambord from 1725. There he enjoyed the solitude of an isolated palace, a quiet, pious and orderly life, in the hope of recovering his throne and putting an end to his wandering. In the summer months, malaria fevers forced him to leave the castle and take temporary refuge in nearby residences (Blois, Saint-Dyé, Château de Saumery, Château de Ménars). To clean up the air in Chambord, he continued the work undertaken by Louis XIV in the vicinity of the castle. Stanislas Leszczynski left the estate for good in August 1733.
