Exhibition Catalogue Kim En Joong at Chambord
Discover the official catalogue of the exhibition dedicated to Kim En Joong, a contemporary master of stained glass, presented for the first time at the Château de Chambord. Featuring around forty works, stained glass pieces, paintings, and ceramics, created in renowned French and German workshops, this richly illustrated book offers a deep dive into the singular world of an artist whose work resonates with spirituality, light, and color.
The catalogue immerses readers in the heart of the exhibition, which spans nearly 850 m² of the château. It highlights the profound dialogue between the artist’s creations and Chambord’s symbolic architecture, where sacred geometry and luminosity intertwine. Among the featured works is the monumental painting Homage to Saint Louis, created during Kim En Joong’s residency at Chambord.
A unique journey into the universe of an artist whose training merges calligraphy and painting, and whose brushwork extends the ancestral art of stained glass.
An essential publication for lovers of contemporary art, cultural heritage, and spiritual expression.
Domain note
Kim En Joong at Chambord
For the first time, Chambord welcomes the work of a stained-glass artist within its walls. Contemporary stained glass art enters into dialogue with the spiritual dimension of the château. The luminous work of Father Kim resonates deeply with the architecture of the monument, designed to capture and reflect light.
This exhibition was made possible through a close collaboration between the Domaine national de Chambord and the International Stained Glass Centre in Chartres, which showcased Kim En Joong’s work until September 2024 in the vast former tithe barn now dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
