Domain note

Chambord wine

In 1519, François I, King of France, ordered the construction of the Château de Chambord. Vines already existed in Chambord during the Renaissance. The Domaine national de Chambord decided to replant 14 hectares of vines in the Ormetrou area, less than two kilometers from the château, on the site of a former vineyard.

Chambord wines are natural, produced using organic eco-certified methods, without the use of sulfites or artificial yeast. They are harvested by hand.

The Chambord wine label features château motifs such as the double C, and royal symbols such as the crown of François I and the fleur-de-lis.

The “baronne”-shaped bottle was chosen in memory of a model from the personal cellar of Maréchal de Saxe, Chambord's guest in the mid-18th century, a specimen of which was unearthed during archaeological excavations. The cork, marked with the double C of Chambord, complies with an ecological charter. It is made from sustainable, renewable raw materials derived from sugar cane. The 100% recyclable cork has a reduced carbon footprint.
