Domain note

The Wine of Chambord

In 1519, Francis I began the construction of Château de Chambord. Even during the Renaissance, vines were already cultivated there. Today, the Domaine national de Chambord has replanted 14 hectares of vineyards on the historic Ormetrou site, less than two kilometers from the château.

Produced from certified organic viticulture, Chambord wines are naturally vinified, without added sulfites or artificial yeasts, and are hand-harvested.

Their label pays tribute to the royal heritage by featuring iconic elements of the château: the double C, the crown of Francis I, and the fleur-de-lis.

The design of Chambord wines: a tribute to the estate’s history

The label features motifs unique to Chambord, such as the double C, and royal symbols like the crown of Francis I and the fleur-de-lis. The bottle, known as a “baronne” shape, was chosen in reference to a model found in the personal wine cellar of Marshal of Saxony, a guest at Chambord in the mid-18th century, one of which was unearthed during archaeological excavations. The cork is also stamped with Chambord’s double C.
