Château de Chambord oak-aged red wine
This Château of Chambord red wine matured in oak barrels is particularly well-rounded and supple. It contains more aromas than wine matured in a stainless steel vat. With its dark ruby hue and a light tint of brick, it magnifies the aromas of red berries of the undergrowth … and coffee. Its character is lightly tannic.
Food and wine pairings:
Matured in oak barrels, this red wine is perfectly matched with dense red meat such as beef bourguignon and is felicitously partnered with cheese.
North-south exposure. The terroir is predominantly sandy, mixed in sub-soil with clay.
Chambord wine aged in oak barrels
In 1519, François I, King of France, ordered the construction of the Château de Chambord. Vines already existed at Chambord during the Renaissance. The Domaine national de Chambord decided to replant 14 hectares of vines in the Ormetrou area, less than two kilometers from the château, on the site of a former vineyard.
Chambord wines are natural, produced using organic eco-certified methods, without the use of sulfites or artificial yeast. They are harvested by hand.
For the first time this year, part of the Château Chambord red wine has been aged in Chambord oak barrels. These barrels are made from oak from the estate's forest park.
