Domain note
Chambord x Gien
The Faïencerie de Gien, founded 200 years ago, symbolizes refinement, luxury and the French art of living. All stages of production are carried out in the Manufacture de Gien, according to a two hundred year old know-how. This quest for excellence combined with creativity has earned the Faïencerie de Gien the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label.
For the 500th anniversary of the castle, Chambord and the Gien Faience Factory have joined forces to create a "Chambord" collection inspired by photographs by the artist Georges Carillo.
A lifelong photographer, he came to Chambord for an artistic residency to observe the many inhabitants of the Chambord forest. The particularity of Georges Carillo's work lies in the choice of black and white in his photographs. A graphic simplicity that leaves no room for the superfluous and brings the viewer directly to the heart of the emotion.
